Urbano the Chiva Killer
By: Edgardo | March 28th, 2008last night was the second between Chivas and Cúcuta, this tiem in Cúcuta. The game was eerily similar - a Chivas team that pressed forward, that tried to attack, but couldn’t get past the Cúcuta. The Colombian squad held their ground (i.e. bunkered) like in Guadalajara, didn’t press up much, but made the most of their opportunities.
and who scored both goals?

that guy, Matias Urbano. And no, he doesn’t play upside-down and he’s not retarded. It’s his fish out of water goal celebration. Oddly enough, i don’t know what gave his teammate more joy - the goal, or the celebration, because he has that creepy “excellent” look Mr. Burns always has. Anyways, Urbano remains the Chivas killer.
Also, just to clear it up, i have nothing against bunkering. a team’s responsibilitys to win , above all. Sure, they want to entertain and win, but what’s funner than winning? Besides, the main people who bash bunkering are the people who lose to a bunkering team - ardidos.
Chivas have now dug themselves a huge hole. One win, three losses , and they remain in last place before the San José - Santos game. The best that Chivas can hope for is that they tie, and then Chivas beats both of them, which would qualify them for the next round. if one team wins, Chivas still has to beat said team and then hope they lose or tie the next game.
If Chivas fails to qualify, they would be only the second Mexican team since 2000 to NOT make out of the group stages (the other being pumas in 2006, who were in shambles.) It’s looking tough, with San Josá having two games at home, and their away game being in - Brazil. Santos also has two home games left, the away game being in Guadalajara.
It’s looking tough, but well, three consecutive 1-0 losses will do that to you, and one of them is at home, it’s even tougher.
