Toluca Switch

By: Andrea | December 20th, 2008

Another player has joined Chivas and this time it came with a twist. We’re letting Jose Antonio Olvera go in return for Sergio Amaury Ponce. Previously there had been strong rumours that Santana was going to be involved in the trade.

I think this is a fair trade. Olvera is still a little green and didn’t add much to the defense and I think Ponce will add something new.

I think Chepo has more confidence in Olvera, who has a lot of potential, and thinks he can realize that potential. At first glance it seems like a bad trade for Toluca.

Olvera has a lot of potential but at the moment Chivas isn´t really at a point where it can nurture it. Perhaps in two seasons but not right now. Its a loan anyways so we can get him back when he´s ready.
