It’s On!

The Classico Tapatio is approaching fast, and Sunday is the big day. While Chivas and Atlas may share a stadium, their history is a little different. Chivas have a record 11 Championships while Atlas has a measly one. To give us a Zorro’s perspective on the game is theoffside’s very own Atlas blogger, Alan.
CDG: Atlas has significantly improved over the past few games, but usually form goes out for these types of games. Does Chivas have to worry about Atlas’ form anyways?
A:I think Chivas will have to worry about Atlas’ form only if they keep it, it tends to be the case in these type of games that both teams lose their heads and form end up playing no part in the game.
Bruno Marioni will be back for this game. Do you think he’ll have much impact since he’s been absent for a while?
A:Marioni has never beat Chivas as an Atlas player, he wants to accomplish this, however, La Volpe says he will have to earn a starting spot, if he does though, I’d bet he’ll play a big part in the game.
Chivas will play its 11th game against Atlas in 36 days. Will this be a factor in the game?
A:I don’t think so, both teams have had so many changes in each and every game, the most important being the addition of La Volpe. They’re playing a whole new team, although all those games helps you have a better scouting report on individual players, you begin to learn a players preferences and habits.
The game is at the Estadio Jalisco, the place both Chivas and Atlas both call home. Who will have to home field advantage this time around?
A:Technically Chivas is the home team, which means they are given more seats, but any game that has La 51 becomes a home game for Atlas, this one included.
What player should Chivas watch out for?
A:Edgar Pacheco, everyone should be watching out for him.
Chivas have been unable to beat La Volpe’s teams during the past 10 years. He beat us with Atlas, Toluca, and Monterrey. Will the streak continue or is it irrelevant?
A:Irrelevant, most Chivas players are probably unaware of this fact, and this time La Volpe has a different team.
Final prediction?
