Friday News Round Up: Injuries and the Superstars of Tomorrow

By: Andrea | January 23rd, 2009

Alrighty then. The Copa International Chivas Comex 2009 is starting up. The prestigious U-18 tournament showcases teams from around the globe, definitely the most important ones in their area. National teams as well as club teams are all thrown in together for the tournament that’s a bout to begin on Saturday the 24th and end on February 1st.
Teams participating are:
América
Atlas
Brazilian National Team
Caracas F.C.
Chivas USA
Coritiba
Cruz Azul
Guadalajara
Japanese National Team
Mexican National Team
Monterrey
Morelia
Nacional
Real Madrid
River Plate
Santos
Saprissa
Stabaek
Tigres
Toluca
Tottenham
U. Católica
UAG

These definitely include the stars of tomorrow.

The games will take place all around Guadalajara and if you happen to be in town, it’s something worth checking out. For more info go to .

In other news Carlos Ochoa, Alberto Medina, and Marco Fabian have been included in the final list for the game against Sweden on January 28th. They will have to present themselves to the national team on Sunday.

Some bad news. Johnny Magallon who is currently getting better after breaking his arm in October has been given the news that he will not be able to play the game against the US in Columbus on February 11th. He still has an estimated 3 weeks until his rehabilitation is done and he’s part of the 7 starting members of the national team that have been ruled out for the game.

And remember. Saturday we play against Tecos. We will be looking for a win to push us ahead in the group after the 3-3 draw against Cruz Azul.

I predict a 3-1 win for Chivas with goals by Ochoa, Fabian, and Medina. The 3 golden boys of the moment.
