Chivas Voodoo
By: Andrea | August 31st, 2010Again, I have to apologize for leaving this blog for a few weeks. School started up again, and with that, all activities.
But I’ll try to better. I really will try.
Anyways, most are aware that Chivas have not been doing well. They score .5 goals every game, so that has really dried up. Chivas has 5 points from four games, but the team needs to make up two games. Things don’t look too good, but after looking at the stats it doesn’t end up that bad. Assuming that they win both games and get the six points, then that would put them up high. But, it’s always better to have the points in hand than those two games.
But…at Mexican newspaper website, Mural.com, they posted a video on why Chivas may not be doing so well at the new stadium.
A home video shows Atlas fans burying their team’s artifacts underneath the new stadium while it was being constructed in hopes of cursing the new home. But it’s really because they only have one championship win, while Chivas have 11. Yes, count them. They’re right on the lovely crest(Just in case the Atlas fans don’t really know what they look like, they’re the stars).
A vaguely remember a similar situation happening in the Boston Red Sox/Yankees rivalry. Hopefully, something of the Red Sox’s time frame doesn’t apply here.
I’d watch it without the audio. Your ears will hurt after a while.

Welcome back, hope school is going well.
i managed to catch the San Luis game online, and Chivas were very unlucky in that. They were looking good until they had a player harshly sent off very early on in the game. Hopefully there luck will turn!
VAMOS CHIVAS!

i used to hate Atlas supporters; now, i just feel sorry for them. more along the lines of pity, really. i suppose their little sympathetic magic (emphasis on “pathetic”) is what one must resort to when the team you support has not won a title in fifty years. but hey, gotta pass the time somehow…
Guadalajara is indeed struggling in post-Libertadores action, but with a string of solid & cohesive performances (read: wins), they can build up momentum in the league and get back in the race. hopefully Alberto Medina recovers soon and is reincorporated into the starting XI. this Sunday’s game against Tecos is a must-win, regardless of the pitch or the amount of (or lack thereof) supporters in the stands.
maybe one of the ways to get back into form is by playing all the friendlies that are programmed here in the US, which sounds counterintuitive – playing more games in a short time frame might exhaust the team, but i see it as a way to experiment with different formations and player combinations to see what works, and implement that in league play. like tomorrow’s game against Philadelphia.
and i make that claim out of bias, because i will be in attendance when they take on Chivas USA two weeks from now here in San Diego. at least i’m honest.
