Chivas Go Through Managers Like They Go Through Underwear
By: Andrea | September 13th, 2009
Yes, Chivas lost. 4-0 against San Luis which doesn’t usually score much. It was bad, but not too bad. Chivas had their chances, it wasn’t that they were completely dominated.
So yes, Chivas is at the bottom of the table with 5 points. The Chivas defense is on par to be the worst with Queretaro’s(the newly promoted team). There are disciplinary problems left and right.
But this weekend something else has eclipsed the game.
Francisco Ramirez is no longer the manager.
Here are the highlights:
But…Ramirez resigned after the game.
Said Pedro Saez, VP
“I would like to say that a few minutes ago Francisco Ramirez presented his resignation as manager of Chivas and we have accepted. After speaking with the members of the council, we spoke in a teleconference, and due to the latest result, I think it’s not recommended that he continue with the team.”
Now, I’m sure he was a wonderful man. I saw a special report on ESPN on the man and it showed his family and how at home he had a different life. But, for a first main managerial job Chivas was just too big to take on.
He only had 2 wins during his 11 game stint. TWO!
He lost 5. Drew 4.
Sure, not all of that is his fault. There are of course eleven bodies on the pitch, while he’s on the sidelines. But, he didn’t motivate the players. He wasn’t a true manager.
But beyond that, it isn’t just a managerial problem at Chivas. No. During this year alone there have been 3 managers. Efrain Flores, Omar Arellano Sr., and Francisco Ramirez. Three. What other team has that?
Yes, many changes can be attributed to Vergara’s mood swings, but the players also have to shoulder some of the blame. What is going on with them?
Why did Ramon Morales really give up the captaincy? Why are there all these disciplinary problems? Were all of them on board to having Bravo come back? And now as captain?
There are alot of questions that need to be answered. I do believe that removing Ramirez from the equation is a good first step. I say bring back Flores(because Arellano is with another team). He did well, but it was Vergara who let that one go.
Although there are no clear names in the running, at this point anyone can be manager. Marco Fabian’s father is the current assistant so he will probably take over as the US tour approaches(great time, huh?).
But…with Vergara anything can happen. An international coach? Sure, why not? Several managers have visited Chivas with Avram Grant(former Chelsea manager) visiting the complex.
Busy times lie ahead.

Andrea don’t you see his resignation as a little suspicious? In many Mexican publications and reports he was quoted as saying that if he was going to resign, he would make that decision on Monday. Then Pedro Saez says that he comes to him and gives him an irrevocable resignation.
I don’t like this Pedro Saez guy, he doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing. Also the team is very fragmented right now. They’ve been acting like babies for a very long time forming their cliques.
