Chivas 0, Jaguares 3; Mauled by the visitors

Ouch. That one hurt. On paper it looked like Chivas could get back on track against Jaguares. But of course, that was bad to assume. And you know what happens when you assume.

Chivas:
1 Luis Michel
19 Jonny Magallón (YC 29′)
21 Christian Pérez (Jorge Enríquez 65′)
2 Mario de Luna
16 Miguel Ponce (YC 17′)
5 Patricio Araujo (YC 55′ & 78′) (RC 78′)
18 Xavier Báez
8 Marco Fabián
7 Adolfo Bautista (Michel Vázquez 40′)
9 Omar Arellano (Jesús Sánchez 46′)
17 Omar Bravo (RC 33′)

This game is one to forget. Terrible defensive mistakes, and three goals for an ex-Chivas player. Who knew Carlos Ochoa had that in him? To my recollection, he never really showed that he had those types of performances in him. All came from extreme defensive mistakes in the 14′, 91′, 94′.

To be fair, the 10 men down at the 33rd minute didn’t help either. But, it was a fair red card. Bravo went in with that ankle crushing tackle and deserved that red. The referee, Mauricio Morales, lost control of the game and that didn’t help. Although ‘Pato’s’ red came later in the game, 9 men didn’t help the situation.

Three goals flew past Michel, but he’s not to blame. The scoreline could have been higher if it weren’t for Michel. He’s truly been a savior this season. I just don’t know what’s wrong with this team. The “the team’s too young/inexperienced” excuse is really not applicable. Sure, they are young but they have plenty of experience. They went through last season when all the national team players were taken away. They fought in the Libertadores and gave performances of a lifetime.

The next game is against Tigres. I’d give my predictions, but with the recent performances it’s possible that something will go wrong. Results have been mixed, but the latest encounter went to Chivas. Tigres have lost three times this season, but their latest game was a win. Defensively they’re a mid-table team this season and it’s about the same with the offense. Although Chivas have only let in six goals this season, they’ve had trouble scoring and that’s the thing that’s really screwing the team over. As a wise man once said, the team that scores more goals wins the game.

ah geez. this one was a bummer. best to put it behind… if possible.

good thing both Reynoso & Medina will be available for Saturday’s game against Tigres; let’s hope that proves to be the needed boost in experience, ability and morale. and maybe Enriquez & Vazquez will replace the absences due to suspension from Bravo & Araujo.

hopefully, things’ll go better in San Nicolas de los Garza than they did in last week’s fixture. hopefully.

oh and i’m a week and a half late with this, but as promised, a recap of the Chivas experience in San Diego. (hey better late than never! hah)

for the autograph session, i went 2 for 4 in my prediction: Jorge Enriquez and Miguel Ponce were there. and kudos to you for accurately guessing Michel’s presence at the event; he was the “headliner” in a sense. Sergio Arias rounded out the four.

as for the game itself, it was exactly what i thought it was going to be: a friendly with nothing at stake (redundant much?), with an insane amount of permissible subs. let me put it this way – by the end of the game, “Chore” Mejia was the only player to have gone the full 90. and they “lost” in penalties, after a nil-nil score. but it was a fun experience all around and definitely worthwhile.

can’t wait ’til next year… or until (if) i make it to the Clásico Tapatío in a week. maybe.

This game was horrible. It literally hurt to watch.

Nice! I hope you enjoyed the event. Again, I’m jealous…

Ahhhhhh, that’s awesome! I’ve gone to a few matches(friendlies, last game at the Jalisco and the first game at the Omnilife), but I bet nothing compares to a Clasico. On my bucketlist: attend a Chivas v Atlas and Chivas v America. Too bad the Atlas one might have to wait, depending on their relegation situation.

i most certainly enjoyed it, yes indeed.

and as for the Clásico Tapatío… funny you should mention it. heh. life got in the way again, and what was once a slim chance at best is now 100% ruled out. oh well. instead, it looks like i’ll be in the LA area when they play on Sunday, so i’ll probably have to find a place to watch it – which is gonna be crazy, since i might go to the Chivas USA – Galaxy game. two city derbies back-to-back… i think i might explode.

well i envy you for having gone to the inauguration of the Omnilife! that must have been an incredibly unforgettable experience. apart from some friendlies, my biggest claim to Chivas-dom is attending the SuperClásico against Amierdica last year at the Jalisco. i got to see it from a ‘palco’ (riiiight above where the supporters from that other team where, hah); supposedly, that palco seats 9 people… and there were 12 of us in there. awesome.

it was an insane atmosphere – before, during and after the match – inside and outside of the stadium (my half-assed YouTube videos can attest for that). one of my personal favorite highlights: right after the game ended, we taunted the Amierdica supporters group as they exited the stadium, and they made gestures for us to come down there and respond. hahahaha-hah, oh these misled fools always find a way to make me laugh. good times.
