¡Super Chivas!

By: Edgardo | March 25th, 2008

What can you say about a team in first place, unbeaten, with the best offense, the best defense (best goal differential as well), the leading goal scorer, and the team that has also logged the most minutes under the 20/11 rule?

How would you describe such team?

What would be a fitting description?

the return of salvador reyes

Granted, it is a somewhat tacky video, but it’s the best description for chivas at the moment (and the song my dad plays every Sunday morning, with much more emphasis lately since they’ve been unbeaten.) Also, this is only domestically. I will touch on the libertadores subject later this week.

The next step is to beat that one team in last place (**cough cough America cough cough **), to avenge the only league loss that Efrain Flores has had with Chivas ,and well so Chivas fans can taunt Americanistas some more. Speaking of which, Chivas will win 4-0. One goal from Bravo, and three from…. Chave Reyes, who else? MARK MY WORDS!

It seems as if Chivas can do wrong this season. Best offense, best defense, lead goalscorer, a strong core with a strong group of youngsters, and also to add the tribute to the campeonisimo in the first match, and Omar Bravo eventually reaching 100 goals (he woudl have them if he was better at pk’s), this season has been one big party.

They’ve been playing attractive, open football. The beautiful play is so widespread that even the legendary Francisco Javier (”Maza“) Rodriguez decided he wanted to stop hacking, join the attack and set up Bravo for a goal. In fact, Maza only has two assists this season, both of which have occured this year.

It’s a good time to be a Chiva.

It does seem that Chivas can do no wrong. I would have chosen the other Chivas anthem, myself, but I wouldn’t mess with your dad’s ritual if I were you.
