To shorten it a bit, Francisco Javer “Maza” Rodriguez is headed to PSV this summer. Let me repeat … El Maza …. is going … to Europe. Not Uruapan, but across the Atlantic , to the Netherlands, specifically Eindhoven.

Blink once, blink twice, then rub your eyes. Maza signed a three year deal. Still don’t believe it?

QEPD/RIP Jaime Gómez Murguía

Earlier this morning, Club Deportivo Guadalajara suffered the loss of one of it’s legends, one of it’s icons, one of the Campeonisimo players, and the player mi tía Guillermina had an eternal crush on -

El Tubo.

Jaime “El Tubo” Gómez sadly passed at the age of 78 after losing a battle with pancreatic cancer.

100 ….. oh yeah, and Chivas won.

After scoring number 99 more than a month ago against Pachuca, Omar Bravo kept everyone waiting for his 100th goal (that, or he couldn’t get it in the net.) After missing some clear opportunities against Necaxa, Atlante, America (how sweet would’ve that been - scoring his 100th against America) and Monterrey, Omar finally awoke and scored against Puebla.

I was hoping it would be some kind of unforgettable golazo - fans can still remember the club’s 3000th goal, scored by Jair Garcia against Colibries. i was hoping Omar’s 100th would top that, but even if a goal is ugly or unspectacular, a goal is a goal, and omar scored it. Or maybe if he would’ve scored like Avila.
I don’t know.

Sorry for being away, i had visitors and had been busy with school and work (for a change) but finally made it back.

Anyways, the headline mean, yes, it can be done. It’s still possible, with some self-help, and some outside help, but it will be tricky.

100 goals or bust

When Chivas face Atlante this weekend, all eyes will be on one man every time he gets the ball in and around the box, or during every cross that goes into the box. Usually , a defender wouldn’t worry too much about a player who stands 1.69 contesting him for a header, much less beating him to it.

But this isn’t no ordinary midget, it’s Omar Bravo Tordecillas. A former amateur boxer from Los Mochis, Sinaloa, and he’s a man on a mission. Not only is the coming game against Atlante a chance for redemption from last year’s losses, but it’s also Omarcito’s shot at history (last week was as well, but that’s besides the point.)

Urbano the Chiva Killer

last night was the second between Chivas and Cúcuta, this tiem in Cúcuta. The game was eerily similar - a Chivas team that pressed forward, that tried to attack, but couldn’t get past the Cúcuta. The Colombian squad held their ground (i.e. bunkered) like in Guadalajara, didn’t press up much, but made the most of their opportunities.

Oh Chivas, where art thou?

2005 and 2006 were (mostly) good times for Chivas in the Libertadores. Who can forget the 4-0 murdering of Boca Juniors at el Jalisco? The god like goalkeeping of Jesús Corona? Or what about the secong leg, where Chuy Corona was a god again, where the Boca fans started throwing all kinds of unmentionables on the field (and the ref told Corona to stay in the goal), and the Boca fan with a Roman Riquelme jersey that hit a Chivas player?

I know two people : Jorge Benitez and Adolfo Bautista

What can you say about a team in first place, unbeaten, with the best offense, the best defense (best goal differential as well), the leading goal scorer, and the team that has also logged the most minutes under the 20/11 rule?

How would you describe such team?

What would be a fitting description?
